Episode 240. Patrick Armstrong – President/CEO, Kentucky Derby Museum
In 2015, Patrick Armstrong was chosen to lead the esteemed Kentucky Derby Museum, replacing Lynn Ashton, who served 20 years in that role.
Since taking the lead at the museum, Patrick & his Kentucky Derby Museum staff have increased revenue by 22%, with an annual attendance increase of over 12.6% in the 2016 fiscal year & 5.6% in the 2017 fiscal year.
Patrick and his team oversee a $6.5 million/11,000 square feet expansion of the Kentucky Derby Museum to be unveiled before the 2018 Breeder’s Cup.
The development will more than double the existing space of 5,000 square feet.
Before joining the Kentucky Derby Museum, Patrick served 10 years as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Development for Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc.
This gives Patrick a collective 20 years working for the Kentucky Derby Festival, Inc.
Patrick has worked in the Louisville community for the last 27 years, with past stints as Marketing Director for Louisville CBS affiliate WLKY TV & Marketing Services Manager for Clear Channel Radio in Louisville.
Patrick graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing & Management.
Patrick is a 2015 graduate of Leadership Louisville, a 2013 graduate of Focus Louisville, & a 2002 recipient of Business First’s “Forty Under 40”.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Louisville’s American Advertising Federation and is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Assumption High School.
He is married to his lovely wife Renee and has two daughters, Devin & Becca.
