Joe and Sony Steier are a Louisville husband-and-wife couple involved in healthcare, real estate, and charitable work.
Their family property business confirms that Joe founded it and Sony later took over its management.
Joe Steier—the healthcare entrepreneur E. Joseph “Joe” Steier III is co-founder, president, and CEO of Signature HealthCARE, the Louisville-based nursing, rehabilitation, and senior-care company established in 2007.
Its website currently reports 67 locations and more than 8,500 employees.
He’s a St. Xavier High School graduate (Class of 1984) and a Bellarmine accounting graduate.
His background also includes an MBA from the University of Miami and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.
A familiar Louisville business connection: he acquired Bearno’s Pizza with childhood friends in 1994, according to his biography.
Sony Steier—the real estate business leader- is president of Steier Properties, which began in 1989 with one small basement condominium.
The company owns rental homes and condos in Louisville and surrounding areas, plus investment properties in Florida, Colorado, and Tennessee.
Her charitable involvement includes chairing the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night campaign.
Joe wrote about her leadership in 2019, explaining that the cause was deeply personal following her sister’s death from leukemia.
