Episode 107. Carol Haddad – Past Member, JCPS Board of Education (1986-2014)
Carol Haddad is driven by a desire to be a participant, not a spectator, in improving education for children.
At the critical juncture of the education merger and a federal judge’s order for busing, Carol ran for the JCPS school board. She felt strongly that her voice could make a difference in improving education standards.
Carol’s motivation to advocate for children and their education came from joining the Parent Teacher’s Association in 1967. From there, she continued to help the PTA for seven years, including the two years she served as its president. From 1976 to 1980, Carol’s role in education leadership evolved as she held a seat on the Board of Education. She was then elected back to the board in 1990. She served as a chairperson from 1993 to 1994 and again from 1999 to 2002, and vice chair for two more years.
